Facial volume and skin structure can change with age, genetics, and weight fluctuations. At Revival Aesthetics and Wellness, board-certified nurse practitioner Shea Nielsen, MSN, NP-C, uses Sculptra as part of a personalized approach to facial rejuvenation.
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable made with poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. Rather than acting like a traditional hyaluronic acid gel filler, it works gradually by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. It is indicated for shallow-to-deep nasolabial folds, fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek region, and other facial wrinkles.1
The objective is not to change what makes you recognizable. It is to help restore support, soften selected wrinkles, and create a refreshed appearance that develops over time.

Your provider reviews your goals, medical history, prior treatments, medications, and the areas that concern you. If Sculptra is appropriate, Revival creates a treatment plan around the degree of correction and your desired pace.

Precise placement, performed with care.
The skin is cleansed, and comfort measures may be used based on the treatment plan. Reconstituted Sculptra is placed using product-specific injection techniques. Appointment length and the number of injections vary by treatment area.

Aftercare
Support an even, comfortable recovery.
Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching, or lumps can occur. Cold packs may be recommended. Follow the exact massage and aftercare directions provided by Revival. Manufacturer guidance commonly describes the “5-5-5” massage routine: five minutes, five times daily, for five days.3

Important safety information
Sculptra should not be used by anyone with an allergy to its ingredients or a known history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Safety has not been established during pregnancy, lactation, breastfeeding, or in patients under 18.
Reported side effects include injection-site swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching, and lumps. Small palpable lumps and larger delayed-onset lumps, sometimes with inflammation or discoloration, have also been reported.
Rare but serious complications can occur with injectable treatments. Sculptra must not be injected into blood vessels because vascular occlusion, infarction, or embolic events may occur. Seek prompt medical care for concerning or worsening symptoms and follow all instructions from your treating provider.

Is there downtime after Sculptra?
Many people return to routine activities after treatment, but downtime varies. Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching, or lumps can occur. Ask your provider when to resume exercise, skincare, and other treatments.
Who should not receive Sculptra?
Sculptra should not be used by patients allergic to its ingredients or those with a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Safety has not been established for patients who are pregnant, lactating, breastfeeding, or under 18. Active skin inflammation or infection at the treatment site must resolve first. Your provider will review additional precautions during consultation.
